Recondo Technology Announces Integration Initiative for US Hospital Systems
— Availability of integration services for hospital systems, applications, software services, and databases

Greenwood Village, Colorado, June 28, 2010 — Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today the general availability of a suite of tools and services to integrate various and disparate hospital systems, applications, software services, and databases. Since many Hospital Information Systems (HIS) were designed and developed decades ago, hospitals have been forced to deploy new technology as "bolt-ons" to HIS applications. Recondo tools and services are designed and created using industry standards and advanced rules-based processing to ensure seamless integration for every system from old HIS to the newest Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings.

Currently, more than 300 hospitals have contracted for Recondo software services, and the Recondo Integration Team has deployed integration services with Hospital Information Systems including Epic, Cerner, McKesson, Eclipsys, Meditech, Siemens, and others.

Since so much HIS software was deployed in the 1980s and 1990s, hospital IT staffs have been forced over decades to develop "work-arounds" to match older data types with new standards and expanded, modern data types. For example, many hospitals have developed "crosswalks" that translate data such as Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. Many systems use proprietary and non-standard codes, and any sending or receiving application must translate the non-standard codes into industry-standard codes.

The Recondo integration team consists of software and healthcare professionals with decades of experience with virtually every hardware platform, software application, database product, Cloud computing, and HIPAA and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) standards. Many members of our team helped create the Enterprise Application Integration market space, and possess skills and experience in developing custom software, implementing a wide range of software, and designing and building data repositories of all kinds. The Recondo Team also understands the hospital revenue cycle from pre-admission through to adjudication.

Recondo hospital customers have a very wide range of integration needs and requirements; a select list includes:

Complex and disparate software systems virtually always contain gaps, and the Recondo Team is empirical and accomplished at identifying gaps and deploying solutions both to close up those gaps and to deliver accurate and quality data across the entire system. Comprehensive integration services allow hospitals to:

"Our team helped pioneer Enterprise Application Integration, and now we are innovating and accelerating the integration process in hospitals," said Rick Adam, Recondo CEO. "As healthcare reform moves forward, the hospital computing landscape will change significantly. Standards will become more rigorously enforced, new standards will emerge, and more complex data will be required for reporting purposes. Data integration and reporting will be the future of US hospitals."

York Memorial Hospital Selects SurePayHealth From Recondo Technology
– Helping York Memorial Provide Accurate Patient Statements and Collect at Point of Service

Greenwood Village, Colorado, May 6, 2010 — Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that York Memorial hospital in York, Pennsylvania, has selected SurePayHealth to streamline the hospital's revenue cycle. SurePayHealth verifies patient eligibility; confirms insurance plan details including current deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance; and accurately calculates patient financial responsibility prior to or at point of service. Memorial selected SurePayHealth to access real-time information on each patient's health plan matched to every detail of the hospital's contract with the designated payers. Memorial Hospital recently went live with Recondo in the Emergency Department, Surgical Services and the Imaging Department.

"SurePayHealth enables Memorial staff to educate patients about patient responsibility prior to service," said Chris Stottlemyer, Director of Patient Accounting. Staff will be prepared to collect payments prior to service being rendered. SurePayHealth will also assist the hospital to identify patients who may require financial assistance through Memorial's Financial Hardship Program. The goal is to collect these amounts prior to service so patients can concentrate on their health and not be surprised down the road. Also, it's not the hospital's intention to delay or cancel services, but rather provide education and information so important in today's environment.

"York Memorial will be a superior partner for Recondo," said Rick Adam, Recondo Founder and CEO. "The hospital has a vision for the future and is assertive at carrying out that vision."

Recondo Technology Announces Consolidated Hospital and Physician Statements
– Global Patient Financial Responsibility (GPFR)

Greenwood Village, Colorado, April 7, 2010 — Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that Recondo® has released Global Patient Financial Responsibility (GPFR) as part of the company's SurePayHealth® Software as a Service offering for hospitals. SurePayHealth GPFR integrates both hospital (facility) and physician (professional) charges on the same patient statement.

"A global statement can improve a hospital's financial performance," said Rick Adam, Recondo Founder and CEO. "Hospitals tell us they've waited years to have this capability to immediately show how much each patient owes the hospital and how much each patient owes the doctor. A global statement is also more understandable for the patient."

"The New York Times just reported that as recently as 2005, more than two-thirds of medical practices were owned by the physicians themselves," continued Adam. "But now more than 50 percent of US physicians are working directly for and getting paid by healthcare systems. GPFR helps these integrated delivery systems print and present statements of patient financial responsibility, accurately detailing charges for the hospital facility and the respective physicians, such as surgeons and anesthesiologists."

Recondo Technology Announces Organizational Membership in Health Level Seven (HL7)
– Standards and formats to benefit the entire continuum of healthcare stakeholders

Greenwood Village, Colorado, February 15, 2010 — Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that Recondo has become an Organizational Member of Health Level Seven® International, the global authority on standards for interoperability of health information technology. Health Level Seven has members in over 55 countries. The Health Level Seven (HL7) vision is to create the best and most widely used standards in healthcare.

Founded in 1987, HL7 is a nonprofit organization composed of more than 4,000 members worldwide, including healthcare vendors, providers, payers, government agencies, and others. In the US alone, 90 percent of the largest health information system vendors are HL7 members. HL7 provides standards for interoperability that improve care delivery, optimize workflow, reduce ambiguity, and enhance knowledge transfer among all its stakeholders.

"Recondo embraces the HL7 standards to offer our customers consistent and solid transactions across applications, databases, and software services," said John Magee, Recondo Vice President of Customer Operations. "The healthcare industry regularly uses hardware and software systems that were created more than 30 years ago, and these legacy systems share communication and data with new and robust applications and software services. With the HL7 standards, guidelines, and methodologies, healthcare systems can communicate, share information, and process data consistently and uniformly. We're developing our software services to use HL7 standards to help streamline connectivity and data across virtually all healthcare computing platforms."

According to a McKinsey study, it costs the US healthcare industry 15 percent of every dollar to collect payment, while retail takes 2 percent and financial services requires only 1 percent to collect. This excessive administrative overhead contributes greatly to the cost of US healthcare. All Recondo software services are developed using a new generation of high-volume, high-speed rules processing, delivering performance, speed, and the ability to handle ongoing changes in a highly complex business environment. Combining standards, such as HL7, with sophisticated rules processing systems significantly reduces administrative costs in the hospital revenue cycle.

Recondo Technology Announces Omni278 UnitedHealthcare Admission Notification Service
– Simplifies Submission of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) 278 Family of Authorization Messages

Greenwood Village, Colorado, February 1, 2010 — Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today the release of Omni278. This service provides a standard electronic EDI 278 transaction to UnitedHealthcare conforming to new UnitedHealthcare rules for notification of a patient admission. Currently UnitedHealthcare requests hospitals to submit EDI notification of each inpatient admission within 24 hours.

The Recondo Omni278 service offers hospitals an easy-to-implement service for delivering the admission notification to UnitedHealthcare. Omni278 facilitates the submission process by accepting admission data in a variety of forms, including an electronic file, an email message, a phone call, or a fax. Omni278 converts this information into a 278 transaction and submits it electronically. Providers then use the Recondo Control Center Worklist to obtain status of the UnitedHealthcare notification number and to manage and reconcile accounts.

"Recondo extends our software services to hospitals by making it easy to accommodate the UnitedHealthcare procedures and eliminate the risk of denial because a notification was submitted after the 24-hour deadline," said Rick Adam, Recondo Founder and CEO. "Recondo is poised to help hospitals deliver accurate and timely electronic admission notifications. As the industry moves from manual tasks to Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) formats, such as the 278 family of authorization messages, healthcare will become more efficient."

Recondo Technology Receives Certification from CAQH/Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE)

Greenwood Village, Colorado, September 16, 2009 - Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that Recondo® has received a CAQH® Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE®) Phase I Vendor Product Certification Seal. The CORE Seal was awarded after Recondo SurePayHealth® successfully completed certification testing – a process ensuring that healthcare organizations can electronically exchange or access patient insurance information according to the CORE Phase I rules.

"The CORE rules represent a cutting-edge approach to streamlining electronic administrative data exchange," said Robin J. Thomashauer, CAQH executive director. By adopting the rules and completing CORE-certification, Recondo Technology is reducing unnecessary healthcare administrative burden, and helping U.S. healthcare become more efficient and responsive to patient concerns."

"Recondo's customers benefit because Recondo streamlines data communication between payers and providers. Recondo understands quite well the pressure of increasingly complex insurance processing rules and the associated manual intervention, errors, and rework," said Rick Adam, Recondo Founder and CEO. "The CORE rules will drive accuracy and consistency across patient eligibility transaction processing (270/271), significantly lowering administrative costs for both payers and providers."

The CORE rules, which build upon national standards, including HIPAA's eligibility (X12 270/271) transaction, make electronic administrative data communications seamless, streamlined and predictable, regardless of the technology. In many cases, the CORE rules eliminate the need for time-consuming phone calls and paperwork. CORE-certification ensures that Recondo users can securely process electronic queries within 20 seconds and that providers will receive consistent patient administrative information.

According to a recent CAQH study, providers may reduce labor costs associated with verifying insurance coverage as much as 50 percent by moving from labor-intensive verification methods (Web, fax and phone) to automated HIPAA transactions. Health plans also could achieve significant labor savings, as the study showed that average labor costs per phone call are $1.38 vs. $0.00 for an automated transaction.

CAQH, a nonprofit alliance of health plans and trade associations, launched CORE to promote health plan-provider interoperability and improve provider access to administrative information. To date, the voluntary industry-wide initiative has brought together more than 100 healthcare industry stakeholders – health plans, providers, vendors, CMS and other government agencies, associations, regional entities, standard-setting organizations and banking industry experts – to develop the operating rules. These stakeholders cover more than 130 million lives, or more than 75 percent of the commercially insured plus Medicare and state-based Medicaid beneficiaries.

Recondo Technology Announces Authorization and Denial Prevention Software Service

Recondo Auth-DP Service Helps Manage Insurance Plan Authorizations and Reduces Denials

Greenwood Village, Colorado, March 25, 2009 - Recondo Technology, a leading provider of revenue cycle solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced the release schedule of Auth-DP, the firm's authorization and denial prevention product for hospitals. Missing authorizations and subsequent denials can account for more than 15 percent of all payer-denied claims, and can result in a loss of 3 percent to 5 percent of a hospital's net revenue.

Recondo Authorization-Denial Prevention (Auth-DP), allows hospital staff to identify required payer authorizations prior to service, ensuring that the hospital provides service only with the correct, approved authorization in place. Missing or incorrect authorization information causes hospitals to write off millions of dollars every year. For many hospitals, claim denials represent the greatest financial challenge across the revenue cycle.

"As we talk to hospitals around the country, we continue to hear their desire for a solid technology solution to the authorization and denial prevention problem," said Victor Marcinik, Recondo Vice President of Product Management. "By reducing authorization denials, hospital CEOs and CFOs can increase revenues and reduce write-offs that result from denied claims, directly stemming from a missing insurance plan authorization."

Auth-DP joins the firm's initial software service, SurePayHealth and Eligibility Plus, as the latest Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings deployable via a browser and architected on a high-speed, high-volume, rules processing platform. Auth-DP will be released in the third quarter 2009, and will require no additional hardware or installed software. Recondo will release Auth-DP pricing in the near future.
